SOBA Framework 1.2 for Linux has been approved to operate on Red Hat Linux 9 (operation on Linux distributions other than Red Hat Linux 9 has not yet been approved). To install SOBA Framework 1.2 for Linux on Red Hat Linux 9, you must obtain and install the following software beforehand.
To use a camera, the camera's device driver must be installed on your Linux machine. You can check to see if the camera works properly by using the "xawtv" command. If the camera works, it can be used on the SOBA Framework. If the camera's device driver has not been installed on your Linux machine, you must obtain the driver for Linux OS that is provided by each manufacturer. For information about how to obtain and install the device driver, refer to the information provided by the camera manufacturer. For playing sounds, we have confirmed that Full-Duplex capable sound cards operate properly on the SOBA Framework. If the drivers supplied with the OS do not support Full-Duplex, please try the ALSA driver ( http://www.alsa-project.org/ ) . The ALSA driver may support Full-Duplex.
After obtaining the necessary software, you can install the SOBA Framework following the Installation Procedures.
