(update:2004-03-04)

This chapter provides information on the tool applications. It also describes how to install and uninstall "Sobazilla", which is a tool application. Sobazilla is the Web browser for the SOBA Framework.

5.1. Tool Applications

Tool applications, which are also called "component applications" and "tools", are used as tools for users to share information and communicate with each other within a shared space (session) that is created by the SOBA Framework functionality.

5.1.1 Provided Tool Applications

As of March 2004, the common application includes the following tool applications.

These tool applications are stored in the toolbox within the common application.

5.1.2 Additional Tool Applications

The new Sobazilla tool application can be used in the SOBA Framework 1.2 that was released on March 4, 2004. Like Sobazilla, programmers can effectively integrate tool applications with the SOBA Framework by using provided APIs. This is one of the important features of the SOBA Framework. Sobazilla, one of the tool applications, was ported and developed as the Web browser for the SOBA Framework. Since it was developed based on Mozilla 1.5, Sobazilla must be installed separately from the common application.See Section 5.2 below for the Sobazilla installation procedures.
