This Installation Guide describes the installation of the "SOBA Framework" developed by the SOBA Project. SOBA is an acronym for "Session Oriented Broadband Application." In this document, the framework provided by the SOBA project is simply described as the "SOBA Framework." The current release of the SOBA Framework is Version 1.2, and SOBA Framework 1.2 operates on Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Linux operating systems. For information about installing the Windows version, see Part I Installation of the SOBA Framework for Windows. For information about installing the Linux version, see Part II Installation of the SOBA Framework for Linux.
This Installation Guide consists of the following chapters.
Read 2. Obtaining the SOBA Framework and Installation Contents for a description of how to obtain the SOBA Framework provided by the SOBA Project and the contents to be installed by the installer.
Read 3. Installation of the SOBA Framework and Starting the Common Application for a description of the SOBA Framework installation procedures and starting the common application. This common application is a P2P type application that was developed by the SOBA Project as a sample based on the SOBA Framework. When installing the SOBA Framework with the provided installer program, the common application is automatically installed along with the SOBA Framework. The common application includes communication tools that enable you to enjoy P2P communications. The SOBA Framework flexibly creates a shared space for virtual communications, which is called a "session" on the Internet. Users can use tools such as drawing and audio / video streaming tools within the session.
Read 4. Uninstallation of the SOBA Framework for a description of the SOBA Framework uninstallation procedures using the installer.
Read the last 5. Installation of Tool Applications for a description of tool applications and installation / uninstallation of "Sobazilla." Sobazilla is a Web browser for SOBA that was developed based on Mozilla 1.5.
